After spending his childhood and adolescence on the shores of Lake Geneva, the Italian Swiss composer decided, at the age of 21, to embark on a journey of almost initiatory contours to realize his ambitions, which would evolve throughout his path and lead him to compose music for film.
This odyssey first took him o German-speaking Switzerland, then to New York, Norway, and Berlin, where the won a prize in 2016 awarded by Sony Classic as part of an international competition organized by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. Finally, upon returning to Zurich, he began a second master’s degree to sharpen his knowledge of composition.
He then chose to return to his native region to establish his studio and gather the eclectic instruments he collected during 16 years of traveling.
In his laboratory, located a few miles from Montreux, Alexandre, like an enlightened alchemist, seeks new textures by mixing acoustic instruments from different cultures and materials with old analogue synthesizers from the 70s. He thus creates music that is both complex in terms of textures and rhythms while maintaining a simple approach to harmony and melody, inspired by forms from the late 19th-century classical-romantic repertoire and Italian music productions of the 60s-70s.
Influenced by composers such as Giacomo Puccini, Steve Reich, Ennio Morricone, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Cliff Martinez, as well as Amon Tobin, Nine Inch Nails, and Aphex Twin, alongside the rhythms of Gamelan music, the composers explore a wide palette that allows him to best serve the projects he commits to with the generosity that characterizes him.
Alexandre draws inspiration from admiring the panoramic view stretching from the sumptuous mountains of Haute-Savoie tot he almost mystical fog hovering over Lake Geneva, as well as from absorbing the cultural and urban vibrancy of the city of Zurich, where he occupies his second studio, dedicated to purely electronic music.
